The work here splits two ways: high-efficiency AC installation and whole-home dehumidification for the newer, flood-elevated homes, and steady maintenance and repair for the older houses whose original systems are aging out. We do a lot of both.
Local Homes & Climate Risk
River Forest mixes newer builds raised on piers to meet flood elevation with an older stock of homes that predate current standards, some of which have flooded before. That combination means we see brand-new variable-speed systems on one street and 15-year-old builder units struggling to keep up on the next.
Being right on the Tchefuncte, moisture is the constant. Riverfront humidity loads a home hard, so proper dehumidification and correctly sized equipment matter as much as raw cooling. For the older homes, regular maintenance is what keeps an aging system limping to the finish line instead of dying in the middle of an August afternoon.
On the Ground in River Forest
We know the neighborhood well, from the homes lining the fairways to the ones backing up to the Tchefuncte itself. Being this close to downtown Covington means a River Forest maintenance call or a no-cooling emergency is a short drive for our trucks.
On a tune-up in River Forest last summer, we found a 14-year-old system that was cooling but never cycling off, and the house still felt clammy. It was oversized for how leaky the ducts had gotten. We sealed the ductwork and added a dehumidifier, and the homeowner finally got a house that felt dry instead of just chilled and damp.

HVAC service built for River Forest
River Forest is a Tchefuncte riverfront golf community where newer, flood-elevated homes stand alongside an older housing stock built before current elevation standards. That split defines the HVAC work here. The elevated new builds often have equipment set high and well away from flood risk, while some of the older homes still have air handlers and condensers sitting low, vulnerable to the river's periodic rise.
Because the community sits along the Tchefuncte, drainage and humidity are constant factors. We spec systems that handle the heavy latent load of riverside living and, on older homes, we look hard at relocating or elevating equipment during replacement. The larger floor plans typical of River Forest also benefit from zoning and variable-speed systems that keep bedrooms and living areas evenly comfortable without spiking the power bill.

River Forest HVAC FAQs
Even a new home on the Tchefuncte fights a heavy moisture load, and an oversized or short-cycling system cools without dehumidifying. We check sizing and duct sealing and often add whole-home dehumidification so a riverfront River Forest home feels dry, not just cold.
