The work we do most in Tammany Hills is AC installation, heat pump service, and repair. Homeowners here are increasingly asking for straight replacement quotes and honest advice on whether a heat pump is the right move for their next system.
Local Homes & Climate Risk
Systems installed when Tammany Hills was built or updated in the 2000s are now 15 to 25 years old. Many still use older refrigerant and run at efficiency levels well below current standards, so even when they limp along, they cost more to run and struggle with our humidity.
That aging stock makes this a replacement-focused neighborhood. Because winters on the Northshore are mild, a lot of these homes are good candidates for a modern heat pump that handles both cooling and heating efficiently, and we walk homeowners through the SEER2-compliant options and the real numbers before anyone commits.
On the Ground in Tammany Hills
We know the streets of Tammany Hills and its location just a few minutes from downtown Covington, which keeps our response times short here. A lot of our visits start as a repair call on an aging unit and turn into a frank conversation about replacement.
A Tammany Hills homeowner called last summer about a system that needed a costly repair on 20-year-old equipment running outdated refrigerant. Rather than pour money into it, they switched to a high-efficiency heat pump. It cooled better through the heat, cut their bills, and gave them efficient heating for the handful of cold snaps we get each winter.

HVAC service built for Tammany Hills
Tammany Hills is an established subdivision near downtown Covington, and many of its systems date to the 1990s and early 2000s. Those units are now at or past twenty years of service, an age where efficiency has dropped sharply and repairs start stacking up. Several also ran on older refrigerant that's now expensive and being phased out, which changes the math on whether a repair is worth it.
For Tammany Hills homeowners, the practical question is when to stop repairing and replace. We're honest about it: a two-decade-old system limping through another summer often costs more in energy and emergency fixes than a modern replacement. When we do replace here, we run a proper load calculation and choose efficient equipment suited to St. Tammany's humidity, so the new system is a real upgrade in comfort and operating cost, not just a fresh box.
